Re: Dice and how to use them

Post by Luna on Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:00 pm

In the last post, you have two actions you are going to have to take. One is dealing with the door. Since you have lock picking, that is something you can do on your own without the Mod asking you to do it. However, the Mod has also asked you to do an "Awareness Talent: Perception". This is a talent that you do not poses. We will address that at the end of this. For now, your reply.

Luna lands with the grace of any gymnast. A shame she did not go and become an Olympic gymnast instead of a thief. Maybe there was time to turn her life around. But that was for another time all together. For now, she had the cash cage in her sights. Quickly running up, Luna pulled out her thieves' tools and began working on unlocking that door. Hopefully this time, she would not fail as epicly as she did outside. As she does so, she keeps her ears and eyes open for anything out for anything unusual.

Now we have come to the end of the post. We have 2 rolls to make which, we can easily to at this moment. We'll start with your proficient skill. Go ahead and click it like you normally do. Once you have that done, click on the Plus Sign (+). This will add a second die to the roll so you don't have to post again just to roll. In cases of multiple dice, it would be a big help if you made a list that lined up with the dice you have selected. For example:

Proficient Die: Lock Picking
Unproficient Die: Perception

While it is not mandatory, it keeps everything running smoothly and we don't have to play a guessing game with you have say 2 or more Proficient or Unproficient dice running around.

Now, let's see how the dice play out.

Re: Dice and how to use them

As you can see, two outcomes have arisen. One a Success and one a Failure. Now, do not fret too much on the failure. As an Unproficient skill, that is bound to happen more than with a Proficient skill. Reason being that both dice have 7 side to them. 1 Critical Failure, 1 Critical Success, 3 Successes and 2 Failures (If using the Proficient die) or 3 Failures and 2 Successes (Unproficient die). Some of you might be thinking that it is unfair for us to stack the dice like that. But really, it is not unfair at all. You yourself cannot expect to do something you are not proficient in and have it work for you correctly on the first try. While on the other hand, you could do something all your life and still make a small or fetal mistake. It happens. And that's why this makes it so much fun.

Now, let our Mod walk you through the next course of action.

Upon opening up the lock, you have failed to notice that there is someone else in the room. Another thief that is trying to take all the money that you have been working so hard to get yourself. The two of you stare at one another, unsure of what to make of this. Half a heart beat passes and the other thief decides that it is best if you didn't get in his way.

At this moment, the Mod is going to start a fight. Since the other thief is going first, as they had the advantage since you failed to see him in the first place, the Mod will now roll to have damage set against you. But before I get into that, let's take a moment to understand how much health everyone is at:

You, the player, on a Tier 1 mission, have 10 health. That's pretty good! A nice solid number as of now. Some Enemies will have as much HP as you or more, depending on the tier mission an how many people are in it. Others, like right now, will have less than you. Again, at tier 1, we aim to make it as smooth as possible. So for this, we shall make the HP of the other guy 5. I will keep a count on him as well as Luna's, since you cannot see her bar.

BAD GUY: 5/5
He uses Tier 0 attack. Uses a knife

The other thief has hit you with 1 point of damage. The reason we are using Tier 0 dice is the fact this is just starting out weapons. Around Level 3 Missions, the bad guys will up their weapons to Tier 1, just like you. But for now, this is how we shall be fighting. Back and forth with Tier 0.

Luna: 9/10 HP

Luna attacks back.

Normally, this part would be RPed out as much or as little as you want. But since it is noting but Tier 0 attacks, it gets a bit boring for me to just type it out and fight with myself. Regardless, Luna will now use a Tier 0 attack

As you can sadly see, Luna did 0 damage. That happens. It happens with every Tier of weapons, sadly. 0 Damage simply means that you missed the target. You didn't hit someone else, but you also didn't hit who you were meant to. Sucks, but it happens. So now, it is the bad guy's turn.

Other Thief attacks with 0 Tier attack!

Thankfully, the other guy has missed you as well. Regardless, we shall speed this up. In a real mission, this would go on until on of you drops to 0. If the BAD GUY drops to 0, he is either dead or knocked out. If you drop to 0, that is the end of the mission and you must make a recovery thread in order to go on another mission of any kind.

As you gain more Proficiencies and equipment, it will get easier to do said missions. At the end of every mission, regardless if you failed or not, you will be given some kind of money for your time. If you still don't understand how the Dice work after this, please feel free to contact Luna or TxValz for further instructions.
