Squad Goals (Level 6) [Mission]

Post by Biran Everard on Tue Aug 28, 2018 9:23 pm

The Mission: Squad Goals
Level: 6
Employment: Origins (Biran)
The Details: After the humiliation and heavy hit dealt by Travis, Biran seeks a new life. He has since joined the US Marine Corps and is inbound to meet with his platoon, far from all of his former lives. This time he wasn't going to run away, as he has a job to do now that is bigger than himself. He is to meet with his squad leader, Sergeant Brozus upon arrival and from there his orders are firm and without question from the new arrival, meager Lance Corporal Biran Everard.
Required Items: Tier 2 Weapon
Required Talents: N/a

To the very least Biran was shattered after his run in with Travis Valentine. He humiliated him, defeated him, and stripped him of his control and dignity all in one brief visit. The man took everything that Biran even was and made him into something fiendish and repulsive. Biran always knew he was prone to flying off the handle easily but now it felt as if he was angry all the time. A constant state of rage clung to him and suffocated him in negative energy that just wanted to grab hold, rip him apart, and set free the wild beast within…or beasts. Biran was too busy feeling pain and anger to worry about keeping hold of his false crowns. He had to cling to something honest, or else that horrid man would come back again and put him through something even more torturous. The young man could not afford that. He couldn’t even afford the chaos he was bringing simply due to the instability of his new horrifying form. He needed to control it. That or someone powerful enough to keep people safe from him…or likewise him safe from murdering people and risk bringing that man back again. After doing his business to Biran, Travis left him with the phone number of his son, that Trever Valentine guy he did not heed and punched in the groin foolishly. Travis had also stated that Trever was the only reason he was even alive to make the call. The Great Grandfather had to of had a soft spot for him and still wished to help, so Biran more than eagerly got himself up and scraped enough change together to call via a payphone after retreating from the lavish lifestyle Travis took away from him.

When Trever answered he begged for mercy, which was hardly necessary. There was no mercy to be had at this point, but the storm would pass so long as he behaved. Biran admitted he did not have the power to behave anymore, which was likely the first time in his life he felt so low that he had to ask for help. It humbled him. Trever agreed to help him and take him in and so Biran would stay with him and his wife, Willow. Biran was told to meet them at their vacation home that was conveniently in Coronado, California just a mere train ride and ferry away from his own location. Trever at the time was living in a place foreign to this one though, somewhere called Twin City? Regardless, the man promised he would be at the address specified no later than a few hours. Low and behold, after scraping a few more dollars and taking the public transit for a short time, Biran made it to the home and was greeted by Trever and Willow. He was a forgiving man, and she was a patient woman, even as he tried his best to adjust. Occasionally his anger spiked out of no where but it was nothing neither of them could not keep under control. It eventually became easy to control himself, especially when Willow gave him that look of absolute daggers that stopped him right in his tracks.

It was a time, no longer than a year that he stayed in their custody and care. He was able to meet multiple relatives in this time as they had come to visit and Biran began to feel guilty more so than any other emotion, knowing that Trever and Willow were far from home in order to tame a wild beast. It was a year well spent and he made a great deal of progress, able to communicate and go outside and around town unsupervised. He learned to have fun that didn’t involve smashing people’s faces in and that in itself was a feat. Biran approached Trever one night to talk to him, to thank him for showing such compassion and showing him how to be...human, aside from whatever else he was. It sounded like a goodbye and it actually seemed to make the older man kind of sad. Trever asked if he had any thoughts of what he wanted to do with his life now that he was rehabilitated and able to go back to being on his own. Biran didn’t really consider it, but he supposed he shouldn’t leave until he have something to do, otherwise he may go back to his old ways. Trever was quick to understand and was quick to continue offering his home and all the advice he could give, as he refused to leave Biran alone if he was not ready to take on the world without support. It meant a lot to Biran, who was disappointed in himself for not being ready and able like he thought he was prior to having the conversation. But Biran had to learn just a few more lessons before he was to set off.

Before they ended the conversation, Trever wondered if he had considered joining the United States military. Biran hadn’t even considered it and he admitted ignorance on that front. Being a long retired Navy SEAL himself, Trever was quick to tell him many stories from his time. They were up until the wee hours of the morning, Biran was captivated by all the experiences the older man had to share and wanted to make stories like this for himself. Trever took that same day without rest to a number of the military installations in the area so that Biran could see the lifestyle and communities for himself. Out of all the bases they drove around in, the young man was most fond of the marine base, merely because it had a ‘dream playground.’ Obstacle courses weren’t uncommon part in marine training, and Trever even agreed that perhaps their lifestyle would fit Biran best, as they were the most structured and it would help keep good habits and train his mind. Regardless, Trever still took Biran to a local recruiting office to talk to all branches and decide for himself, all while still there as an unbiased voice of reason to guide him. Of course, he was Navy through and through himself, but knew what Biran liked and it surely wasn’t being trapped on a metal floating war machine on water. He needed space to be free and maybe some wilderness to roam in. Rolling around in the dirt was sort of what Biran did best. Within a few short months, Biran was starting to prepare for Marine Corps bootcamp, here in sunny San Diego, the same base where that big playground was.

It was an adjustment for sure. Biran had never had to handle grown men yelling in his face, but thankfully Trever and his recruiters also had let him know that it would happen, and it was just a part of the process. Biran didn’t like it very much at all, it triggered his fight or flight responses from even back in the jungles of Australia, but he was able to keep breathing and continue on. The physical training was among Biran’s favorite part, doing workouts and running around and being pushed to extreme heights. He handled many of the trials much better than any other recruit in his unit. What he didn’t expect to enjoy and be good at though, was firearm training. He near perfected every score in all of his time in training and impressed many. Upon graduating, his original orders in infantry were reevaluated and changed to include an intermediate detachment to Marine Corps Scout Sniper school, an honor and a privilege that Biran took with pride and boldly went to do. After 13 weeks of basic training and now another 13 weeks of sniper school, Biran spent half a year in this training before reporting to his company that was stationed at an outpost in Iraq.

Today was finally that day. He’d meet up with his squad and figure out his place in this odd new setting. He had to check in with the leader of the squad ‘Sgt Brozus’ once he finally made his way there via air and then ground transport, then would likely be roamed around by someone on his team in order to get acquainted to life around here in the sand box. Biran was hardly anxious or nervous, he didn’t have time to let himself dwell on things like that. He just wanted to get in and do the job he was meant to do.

The time had come at last for Biran. He was going to be thrown into a random squad that was going to determine his entire life. People already hated him for gaining snipper school so easily. The entire plane ride to the big old sandbox cemented that. But not everyone voiced it nor paid him any mind. Which was good and bad but over all fine for him.

Getting off the plane and through command was hectic. Tents were everywhere, buildings stood some places, and everyone seemed to be minding their own business or goofing off. Either or. Some were both. Refardless, you come to your first obstacle: A man with a name tape that says BROZUS.

He's a tall man, though not nearly as tall as you. Dark brown hair, tan kissed skin, and honey golden eyes. He does not look happy, though, to be fair, who really does when you live out here in this big sandbox? Currently, he is speaking with a blond haired .an with a name tape that reads BARDIRAN. Whatever they are talking about sounds important. Then again, everything people say seems important these days.

Biran could sense the tension during the ride over. That was fine, none of them were worth his breath either. Even if they were his brothers in the squad or even his team, his job was to remain at a distance and recon their surroundings from a distance. He didn't have to worry about them shooting him in the back or at least not looking out for him. This was fine. Biran continued his journey in silence, speaking only unless spoken too by a higher authority or unless he had questions regarding directions or his assignment. Making it to camp was the easy part frankly. It was just a bit of footwork to get papers signed and ready to present to his Sergeant but he was. He decided it best to walk by and observe first. But a Brozus was definitely a man he needed to talk to, but like hell would he approach them while they are having such a serious talk. His life could wait for a moment.

You notice the chevrons just fine. The Brozus before you was not the Brozus you were looking for. This was a Gunnery Sergeant. Not a normal Sergeant. During the conversation, it seemed as though this Brozus was having an all out war with this Bardiron. The conversation went around how he should take more responsibility for ideas pitched at Jesus. Whoever Jesus was. The Bardiron guy shrugged it off and finally said "He's your brother. You talk with him. It's not my place and...Im not your rank, sir." For a long moment, there was tension in the air. More than was on that plane. How that was even possible, you couldn't even begin to understand at this moment.

It was when you took the chance to blink did you miss it. Gunnery Sergeant Brozus' gaze was locked onto yours. Without uttering a word, he called you forth to figure out why you were there. Scarry. The Bardiron guy? He seemed chilled at the moment. If you probed further with an insight, you might find out what was going on behind thay military stone face wall. Otherwise, better speak up, guy

Brother? Ok. This Gunnery Sergeant was probably his Sergeant's brother. He thought they had rules against brothers serving in the same regions, but it mattered not right now. Gunny had caught eyes with him and summoned him with a mere look. "Apologies, Gunnery Sergeant." Biran approached and spoke with his chest confidently. "I was looking for a Sergeant Brozus. You are obviously not a Sergeant, but you are a Brozus. I was confused. I didn't mean to be rude." Hopefully that wasn't too many words but he showed the man his orders that would prove he's more or less a fresh boot aside from his specialty school. "I'll be on my way on your command." He dare not leave without being told to do so, especially with this Gunnery Sergeant with a bad resting bitch face before him after he had stared too long.

The Brozus before you will take your orders, look them over real quick, and then hand them off to Bardiron. "He's in your care. I have a plane to catch." And with that, resting bitch face Brozus was on his way. That left you with moody blond boy with a great smile. Flashing his gaze to you, Bardiron will smile with those pearly whites and speak. "Ah. So you must be one of the new ones. You got here later than the others, but we got you. Come on. I'll take you to Sergeant Brozus. Don't worry about asshat over there. He's grumpy he had to fly out here for a week to deal with his brother. He doesn't like playing in the sand."

And you walk the campgrounds following Bardiron closly. He'll take you to an area where a group of about nine people are sitting around a table chatting. Some are eating food while others are simply there. The man with the golden eyes and chestnut hair will turn his gaze to you. With a smirk, he'll wave you over. "Ah! You found our straggler. I heard you got stuck on the later plane. Well welcome. I got a bag lunch for you. If you're hungry that is."

He'll gesture to the other untouched paper bag on the table. You are free to move about the cabin

What you pulled from your insight: Bardiron does not like this Brozus. He might even hate the guy. You'll likely hear more later

"I guess I wouldn't sand much either if it got in my panties." He'll bust the joke since he seems to be in good company and the scary Brozus is gone. "But really. Thanks for taking care of me." It probably went without saying, but a little appreciation went a long way sometimes.

They walked across camp then to where the rest of the squad seemed to be. There was a man that looked rather similar to the pissy Gunny, and he figured that was his man. His words on the boot's late arrival confirmed that and he was nice enough to have a bag nasty ready for him. "Thank you. Sergeant Brozus, I presume." Biran would approach the table and softly lay down his bags and excess gear to greet the group properly before taking his lunch. "Lance Corporal Everard. At your service. I...went to scout sniper school straight out of basic so this is my first assignment. Happy to be here."

"Formalities. Roger." Sergeant Brozus sat up tall and cleared his throat. Better to get down to businesss now rather than later. "Correct. I am Sergeant Brozus. This here, who kindly brought you over, is Sergeant Bardiron. That guy with big muscles and dark completion is Corporal Katzroy. The guy next to him, with the much paler completion, is Corporal Hourson. We four make up one squad. Moving on to the lovely first lady Corporal [insert Lindsey's last name]. She's spoken for so don't even try it. She's the squad leader of the next group: Private First Class Laney and her dog Mako, Private First Class Frader, and lovely Ms Lance Corporeal Rainitha Day. I call them my dream team." He'll give them all a wink before moving on to the last batch of people sitting and eating food. "And that leaves the last squad: Private First Class Fairfax, Private First Class Monroe, Lance Corporeal Soori, and you, team leader, Lance Corporeal Everard. Congratulations. And before you ask why you and not Soori. Easy. She's good at taking orders. Not not great at giving them. Just ask the other guy who transferred out. Make me proud, son."

J. Brozus let you take a moment to process all that information. From what you had been told, not that you were sexiest in anyway coming from where you grew up, there weren't that many girls compared to guys in the armed forces. Even less in hot zones like this. And yet, there were four of them in one place, all under the watchful eye of this guy. Interesting. Very interesting. And as you sat there eating your turkey and chese sandwich, you could easily pick out the higher ranked men had been around one another for a long time. An ease settled around as all mismatched personalities meshed into harmony. Strange how that happened.

Roll insight as well as a sight roll as you finish your sandwich and reply as you would like. Or ask any questions you might have
