In need of a Cook. (MISSION) (Level 1)

Well shit… This was going down the drain very quickly, wasn’t it…? The scent of smoke hung heavy in the air and she could practically hear the hissing from the other room as the gorgon stomped toward them However as the snake man came into the kitchen and began to berate them, she shrugged her shoulders. “I’ve also seen dog food drier. And tasted it, I might add. It's not bad depending on the brand.” She piped up softly, almost as if to taunt him as she couldn’t help but giggle. What was so terrible to get all worked up about anyway? It didn’t make any sense to her at all. It was just food, after all, and having three amateurs in the kitchen likely didn’t help at all.

However… Moments after he left, the dog burst into laughter, just pure and uncontrollable laughter. Did he really expect that kind of ‘pep-talk’ to work with people? Especially with her? She’d been called worse things by her lovers. After a few moments of getting her laughing under control, she turned and looked at Silky, her face still full of the humor that no one else likely knew. “But… Which one is Tweedledee and which one is Tweedledum?” But it wasn’t until she saw the tears that were welling up in the other woman’s eyes did she sober a bit from her humor…

Rune looked toward the doorway that the man had left through and shook her head. “Don’t cry, Silky. Men like that enjoy getting a rise out of you, my dear. No need to ruin your pretty face with such tears.” She patted the other woman’s head lightly, nodding at her plan of action. Yeah, Silky should work on sweet things. Meanwhile, Rune could… She didn’t know. Spaghetti, apparently, from what that man had said to do. The dog rolled her eyes as she followed the woman to the sink and washed up as well, bumping shoulders affectionately with her companion. “You got this, sugar buns. Just do what you do best, yeah?” She purred as she leaned down to nuzzle her cheek against Silky’s shoulder before turning back and moving to the other counter for round two of this spaghetti.

As the head chef had re-entered the kitchen and began chewing them out, Salem stood at attention almost as if he was a soldier. Or rather, he was just so stiff with anxiety that he didn't know how else he should be standing. Rune retorted to the snake person as he began to chew everybody out, saying something about dog food not tasting so bad depending on the brand which… puzzled him, as to him it sounded like her attempt at a retort backfired into a self-deprecating insult. Silky seemed especially hurt by the Gorgon's anger, and watching Silky recoil… weirdly gave him an urge to punch the Gorgon in the jaw. It was weird as it was like it wasn't his own emotions that lead him to clench his fist there and then. Thankfully, it was his own survival instinct that convinced him to release the grip on his curled fist before he threw it at the head chef. That was weird… what came over him just now? It was like he wasn't himself. It didn't help matters that the Gorgon moved towards Salem and actually gave him a compliment, telling him to get started in the main dish. “Uh… right away, sir.”

When the Gorgon left, Silky seemed to well up with tears, finally letting them all out now that they were alone. He couldn't help but feel bad. He got off scot-free, after all. “I'll go ahead and stick with the second batch of Cannolis... You guys go ahead and make the food. I.. I'm sorry I screwed up…”

“It's fine, Silky. Just hold out a little longer, our shift should be over and we can put this guy behind us.” Salem said trying to reassure her with what little he could say. It wasn't like the Gorgon didn't have reason to be angry, after all. With that he turned over to the chicken parm and focused his efforts on it as much as he could, trying to tune out any distractions. The sooner he got this done, the sooner he could help finish up everything else. The heat of the kitchen was starting to get to him, and he could really use some fresh air right now.

The words of encouragement seemed to help her keep upbeat as she continued on the second tray of Cannolis. Her heart hurt a little, but she knew she still had work to do.. but... what was that smell?

Looking over her shoulder for a moment to Salem she would let her soft voice carry to him, "Hey... Salem?... Something doesn't smell right... You might want to check over your food. It smells a little... off?" Turning back to her own food she would attempt the second step to her second batch of Cannolis.

What a terrible scent. She wrinkled her nose as she looked over at Salem who was… Failing just as bad as she had on the chicken parm. Oh well. After she finished this, she’d go over and help. Two heads were better than one, right? Though having too many cooks in the kitchen was also bad. Hmmm… Oh well. For now, she just needed to focus on getting this Spaghetti right. ”I’ll be over in a minute to help, Salem.” She said after a moment as she tried to hurry to finish the meal in front of her.

“It's fine, I got this… I've GOT this!” Salem started to panic as things started going wrong all around the kitchen. Why wasn't anything working out?! Chicken parm wasn't that hard to make, was it? He followed the instructions to the letter! Everything should be going fine! Unless…

Unless the instructions were leading him astray. That must be it. Twin City with its crazy-ass magic was probably twisting the words and steps. That had to be it! No wonder things were going awry! Well, no matter, who needs instructions? He cooked fine for himself before. Rubbing his exhausted eyes briefly, he quickly reached for his phone, locked it, and put it back in his pocket. Now it was time to go on instinct. First to do something about that smell. Spices. Spices, spices, and more spices. If they can't notice the smell anymore, surely it should be fine, right? Right? Well, he had to do something. That Gorgon was just waiting for them to fail so he could have an excuse to serve the three temporary chefs as the main course instead, wasn't he? Oh, not this time, snake. Plural, presumably. But not this time! Salem reached for the spice rack and decided to try whatever combination he could out of instinct in hopes it would help somehow.
