Alpha 001 turned to its companion with a smile. It had seen people doing that to ones that they knew, and sometimes to ones they did not know. It seemed to be a way to show amiability towards another human. “Harper Fairfax, it is good to once again be on the same team as you.” They had played volley-the-ball together, and now it would seem they were paired up for what as known as a ‘Scavenging Hunt.’ It held the piece of paper out to her. “It appears that we must solve this if we are to proceed. We should start looking for a graveyard, as that is the most logical place to find dead bodies of soldiers. If the answer is not there, I would assume that we should look in all of the alleyways around to find these bodies.” It took a second look at the paper, attempting to decipher any different kind of information that could be helpful to the partners.

'Proficient' :

Ah, it seemed she was paired up with Alpha. Grinning to him, she offered her hand to the Android. "Please, call me Harper. You don't need to say my complete name, Alpha." Though they did not seem to interact much during the volleyball match, she was still happy that they had managed to win some cash and a fun little gadget. But back to the the task at hand. Her golden eyes gazed at what this riddle meant. She did not exactly know what the answer was, but she was fairly sure Alpha wasn't correct either. "I don't think we're going to be needing to look for actual dead people. Maybe something like a memorial? Regardless, we're not going to the graveyard. And I don't think they would really have dead bodies out here in alleyways for some kind of event as family friendly as this. We need to think harder on where it could be." And so, with a bit more thinking, Harper attempted to try and think of something else along the lines of what Alpha said....and if not. Hopefully that 1 success by Alpha was enough to actually point them in the right direction.

Dom absently thumbed his police badge in the moments after being paired with Patience Rose. A cat. His partner was a cat.
 
Well, of course she wasn’t a regular cat. She was an Animalian; one of the many races of Twin City that could morph into a human form at will. And whatever natural abilities they carried as an animal were mostly retained. So he wasn’t disappointed or anything. They'd probably get a lot done with her superior senses.

“I’m Dom, nice to meet you,” he said, extending a hand to Patience in greeting. She was very pretty, with sharp yellow eyes and dark hair, and reminded him of one of those fluffball felines you’d see in the laps of kingpins. Hopefully she knew how to handle herself once they got onto the streets. “We have a lot of time to solve this one, so let’s be steady and try not to overthink things. The Hospital could be a good place to start since it’s in the middle of town. Then we could extend our search to the surrounding area and find clues from there.”

The wolf cast a sideways glance over to the man that would be his partner for the evening. He didn't have much of an opinion of him, though he was dressed up as a pirate, he guessed that some people didn't grow out of such a thing. Maybe the man had kids or a girlfriend that had caused him to do so. Fenrir wasn't judging outwardly. But he did note that the man smelled like a cat... A tiger to be specific... Strange... But it wasn't unheard of in this city. He lit up a cigarette before slipping his lighter back into his pocket. "Fenrir, and I am pretty new." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. "But I'm pretty alright with them, or so I think." The wolf looked over the riddle and thought for a few moments, hopefully getting it right.

Ah… With her food halfway already in her mouth, a woman approached her. Turning wide pale golden eyes to her, she finished off her mouthful quickly, not wanting to be rude. But what was she saying? Harper? Ah… ”My name is Svala. And… thank you. I haven’t changed it for years, but if it isn’t broken, right?” Her words were a slight attempt at humor, but her tone was flat and lacked the emphasis in the words that needed it, along with the emotion that should have filled them. And then, to her surprise, another guest approached, one she recognized as the cat that had dragged her to the place she now called home.

Her expression relaxed a bit, giving a slight smile. ”Why wouldn’t they let me out of the house?” She asked in that same flat tone, but then, the feline offered her food. Which always won points in her book. Her smile widened, but her eyes remained almost dead as she took the food that was offered to her. ”Thank you.” The Wendigo took it happily and downed it, stick and all in two bites.

In no time, the event started, the rules read out and they were paired up. Her partner was a dark-haired man whom she didn’t know and she walked up to him without hesitation as they waited for their riddle. She wasn’t good at them. She’d been ‘gone’ for too long, but maybe… By some chance, she might know this one… After they were given their riddle, she thought for a long moment about what it could mean, but she was missing something. Turning that pale yellow gaze up to her partner for the evening, she attempted a smile that didn’t lighten her eyes. ”My name is Svala, it is nice to meet you.” This was courtesy, she’d been taught it well in the last few months, though she mostly kept to herself. ”Ten soldiers… In an alley… On a date night?” What even was a date night? And they were dead… They sounded yummy… No. She couldn’t think of that right now. Clearing her throat, she thought harder, hoping to get the riddle. Or maybe her partner knew the answer.
